Domain, website and mailbox

The domain is the registered address. A hosting or website provider serves the website. A mailbox handles messages. These services can come from different providers and connect through DNS. chname.ch currently offers domains and optional email, without a web hosting product.

Who holds the name and who manages it?

The registrant is the person or company recorded as holder. Technical administration may be delegated to someone else. Understand who you are ordering for. Later DNS changes or transfers do not remove the obligation to keep registrant details accurate.

Which price should I remember?

One .ch costs €9.99 to register and €12.99 per annual renewal. The prepaid offer is €27 for registration and two future annual renewals. Optional 10 GB email is €2.70 a month per domain. Each additional extension has its own line and price.

Your practical checklist

  • Choose the registrant.
  • Choose a DNS provider.
  • Select email separately per domain.
  • Review registration and renewal pricing.

A useful question

Can I register only the name first?

Yes. A website is not required, but the required DNS zone and nameservers must be prepared correctly.
