Privacy policy
How chname.ch handles registration, order and account information and the service providers involved.
Version: 19 October 2026
Who is responsible
STEINBERG LTD is responsible for chname.ch processing. Company number 17242845; 128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom. Use the contact form with the privacy subject or write to that address for questions and rights requests.
Information and purposes
We process account email, registrant and address details, phone numbers, relevant company and registry data, orders, payment references and technical security information. These support orders, account access, customer service and registration obligations. Appropriate fraud prevention and security rely on legitimate interests. Mandatory legal processing applies separately. Registration-required fields are marked; without them we cannot provide that service.
Recipients
Openprovider and relevant registries receive required registrant and domain data. ClouDNS receives DNS service information. Stripe handles payment details; chname.ch does not store full card numbers. Cloudflare supplies hosting, database and security. SiteGround processes SMTP messages for login and service emails. Openprovider processes information for the optional mailbox service. AI naming sends the submitted description to Cloudflare Workers AI, or to OpenAI when that alternative is configured. The naming feature does not send other account or payment details. Avoid unnecessary personal information in the description.
Transfers and retention
Providers and registries may operate in other countries. Required transfer grounds and safeguards must be established before integrations are activated. Registration information is retained for service delivery, registry obligations and disputes; order records for administration and applicable legal requirements. Login links expire after 15 minutes and sessions after at most 7 days. Expired tokens are removed through scheduled cleanup. We retain no more information than needed for these purposes.
Rights and choices
Depending on applicable rules, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests. Consent can be withdrawn where it is the legal basis. Active services and legal or registry obligations may limit erasure. You may complain to the relevant authority, including the UK ICO or your local authority. Registration data is not automatically used for marketing.
