An import is a starting point

Add the domain to your own account and compare discovered records with the existing zone. Automatic detection may miss subdomains or verification records. Review mail settings and use only the nameservers allocated to your domain.

Review proxy, certificates and email

Proxy status is separate from an address record. Follow the hosting service’s required configuration. Mail servers should not casually be placed behind a web proxy. Review DNSSEC, then test the apex, www and both mail directions.

Your practical checklist

  • Compare imported and existing zones.
  • Use assigned nameservers.
  • Check DNSSEC before switching.
  • Test web and email separately.

A useful question

Must I transfer my registration?

No. Changing DNS and transferring the registrar are separate operations.
